Fantastic location especially if you are looking for a relaxed break. Spotlessly clean with well appointed rooms. Great food and drink from a surprisingly varied menu. Welcoming and friendly staff, who are happy to provide advice about the surrounding area. Looking forward to returning.

Tips:

Reserve a table at the hotel for an evening meal, soon after booking. Their menu is popular with visitors to the area and the sea views are special. Visit Gigha for a few hours, the ferry is less than 15mins drive from the hotel. Follow the K66 route around Kintyre, starting from the hotel. The adjacent white sand beach is quiet and the shallow water is great for dog walkers.

The Hosts Ian and Nick together with their fantastic team make everyone feel so welcome from start to finish. Food was fantastic , lots of fresh locally sourced produce. Covid guidelines followed which made us all feel safe and secure. Our 2 dogs loved their stay the hotel is so dog friendly ❤ We enjoyed our stay so much we tried to extend it but the hotel was fully booked. A true Jewell in the Crown !! We booked this hotel, because it was central to our travel plans around the area. In reality, if I had relaised that this place was as good as it was, I would have stayed all week. I am lost for words about this place. A spotless, modern hotel inside a traditional guest house setting. All of the most modern facilities, in a homely and pleasant surrounding. Perfect, just perfect. Food was excellent with a selection of modern takes on classic meals plus specially designed and seasonal offerings. Fantastic food and plentiful. Now onto the rooms, modern style, tastefully decorated, everything you need plus views of either the sea or mountains. Location: Nothing to say here except for perfect. The views across the white, sandy beach to Islay and Jura are truly spectacular and then when sunset arrives .... BOOM! The hosts, Ian and Nick are beautifully attentive and are obviously proud of their hotel. They should be, it is amazing and I for one, will return shortly, but for a much longer stay.

Tips:

The view is all you need to see. The view across the bay to Islay an Jura is just amazing. Dog friendly with a large beach and local walks for exercise. Centrally located in Kintyre, close to Tarbet and Cambletown. The carribean in Scotland .... nothing further to add.

Real gem of a hotel sitting on a lovely white sand beach. The beach terrace is a great outdoor space to relax. Takes dog friendly to a new level. This was my second visit to this hotel. The owners Ian & Nick make fantastic host's and their team of staff look after you so well and very efficiently. The hotel has only 9 bedrooms so it is often difficult to get a room if you suddenly feel like a break away! Once here with the setting right on the beach you are automatically relaxed and get the benefit of sitting outside with a leisurely drink of having something to eat in the conservatory looking out to sea and the islands. The hard part for me was leaving after 4 days and wished I was there for longer! All I can say to anyone staying there for a day or two or longer you will not be disappointed and you certainly will never be hungry as all the perfectly made meals are freshly made and delicious. This hotel is also dog friendly so your best friend need not miss out!

Tips:

Life in the Mull of Kintyre is set at a slower pace. The only negative thing for me is tht amount of driving every day to go places and the fact that the road system on the peninsula means that you are often on the same bit of road every time you go out in the car with a few exceptions. So saying there are lovely places to go, Southend, Campbeltown and Machrihanish at the southernmost end or up to Tayaloan for a ferry across to see Ghia for the day. Lovely walks and if you brought your dog with you then the beaches are fantastic to walk along and you could even go in swimming.

Have stayed at the Hotel previously and always had a great welcome. My sister and husband from the USA have included a few nights at the Argyll Hotel on their previous 2 visits to Scotland. The location is superb beside a long Sandy beach and stunning views of the islands particularly Islay and Jura.

Tips:

Would recommend a visit and always to book in advance as it is very popular with repeat visitors.

Warm welcome back to Argyll Hotel on a glorious sunny afternoon. Stayed in a bright modern room with a lovely side view of the beach and a big comfortable bed. After a long sandy walk and paddle enjoyed a fruity local gin on the terrace with stunning views over the sea and later , after a lovely dinner , watched the amazing sunset.

Tips:

Cannot beat this location! Right on the beach .Would be lovely even on a wild winters day . Drive down this side of peninsula has beautiful sea and island views then drive up the other side with narrow twisting roads but also lovely wee fishing villages , forests and beaches. Kintyre Gin distillery is a beautiful spot to stop . Very modern facilities with a nice cafe with inside and outside seating and good coffee. Also visited Gigha for afternoon and had seafood lunch in the lovely Boathouse ( must book ahead ) . So loads to do and see . Well worth a trip !

Magical stay for the four of us. Location, food and friendly and outstanding personal service from the staff. From sitting on the beachside sunny terrace to walks along the miles long sandy beach to the wide menu (we ate meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan between us!) and range of local drink choices (gin, whisky, beer and wine) we felt that it was a little piece of heaven. Could rave on about even the smaller things like the gorgeous home made jam but it is Ian and Nick who are the reason that this is an idyllic retreat and place that we will all return to!

Tips:

Set on a quiet bay with stunning views of Islay, Jura and Gigha this is a good location to visit local highlights. A trip on the ferry over to Gigha is a must.

When I arrived on a damp misty day, this looked a little old hotel from a distance; when I went in, it was a magical place, a lovely conservatory room with armchairs and tables to sit and enjoy a drink, and tables for eating in the window looking out over the gorgeous beach, the Atlantic Ocean, and (when the weather was better) views to Islay and Jura. The bedroom was well equipped and comfortable and had this view too. What makes it special, though, is the welcome and the lovely warm atmosphere created by Ian, Nick and the rest of the staff. Their food is brilliant and generous portions, and it is great value for money. I want to come back here next year, stay for longer and go to the islands!

Tips:

The Kintyre peninsula has a remoteness and beauty and a special feel to it that totally captivated me! Walk on Bellochantuy and Westport beaches, take your binoculars, enjoy the company of very few people but masses of seabirds like sandpipers, oystercatchers, cormorants and gulls.Sunset seen from this beach is amazing. Spend some time in Campbeltown by the fishing harbour, sample the food and drink shops full of local produce, and take the coast road to wards the island of Davaar and beyond. Further afield Tarbert is a nice place and Loch Fyne very pretty. The views on the coast road on the West of the Kinytre peninsula going North from Campbeltown are fantastic.

Nick and Ian are a great team. The hotel is well run and they make it a calm and relaxing place to stay over. We truly felt very relaxed and at home in your hotel. The food was very good and Ian is very knowledgable about food allergies which was a great help for me as I can find eating out difficult at times. Sitting on the terrace with a drink in hand and looking out at the sea and the white sand was a real treat.

Tips:

We loved Kintyre. It does have the feel of an island we felt far away from home (which was just what we needed when travel abroad is so restricted this year). We drove around mainly just stopping off at various bays. We enjoyed Saddell Bay with its Antony Gormley structure. We did a gin tour at the Beinn an Turc Distillery which is nearby and enjoyed that. We visited Southend and loved the remoteness. Cake freshly baked at the tearoom is a must. Husband said it was his best cake ever. We went to Campbeltown and walk across the causeway to Davaar island. The lushness of the countryside and proximity to sea is really what we couldn’t get enough of. We spent 3 nights in Arran and then got the ferry over to Kintyre. We worried a little about the journey home driving north through Kintyre before travelling south to North Yorkshire. However the drive was amazing and very much part of the holiday. We would do it again.

This place is a work in progress and it will be an absolute gem when these guys have finished with it. Don’t be put off by the view of the premises from the road!

Kintyre was at its best for my 2 days at the argyll hotel and I was anticipating an enjoyable mini break . I was not disappointed. I was warmly welcomed when I arrived and shown promptly to my ground floor room which had been recently upgraded. Simple decor and modern en-suite with excellent shower . I was immediately aware that hosts , Ian and Nick, where rigorous in adhering to the covid protection guidelines and felt reassured that everything was being done to keep guests safe . After exploring the beautiful beach directly in front of the hotel I sat out on the terrace and sampled a gin and tonic from the extensive list of gins in stock. I really have to return to try then all! I recommend the Lussa gin. Dinner was delicious -hake in a light herb sauce with perfectly cooked vegetables . The day ended with an amazing sunset which guests can admire from the dining room or terrace . Breakfasts on both days were well cooked and presented. I had creamy porridge followed by a muffin topped with beautiful scrambled eggs on day 1 and the highlight on day 2 was the vegetarian haggis with fried eggs and mushrooms . Vegetarians / vegans can be assured that there are plenty of choices they can enjoy . I would say that if you considering a stay you can book with confidence and be assured of a clean and comfortable environment, a warm welcome and a relaxing stay in an area of outstanding natural beauty . Thank you Ian and Nick and hope to see you again soon.

We really enjoyed our stay. The service and food were excellent, Nick and Ian were wonderful hosts and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a welcoming and informal atmosphere, as well as spectacular views. Being dog-friendly was a key reason for choosing the Argyll Hotel and the treats that were left each day were much appreciated by our four legged companions. We’ll be back again soon.

We've stopped here 3 or 4 times. I'd like to find something wrong, but I can't think of anything. It has rained a few days, but I can't really blame the hotel for that. Friendly, helpfull staff, good food/drink, and a very dog friendly hotel, in a great beach location.

Our first time away with our dog. Nick and Iain made us feel at home. Our sea view room was excellent. A daily chew for Rosie and a blanket and towel in the room for her use too. A lovely relaxing atmosphere, the beach on our doorstep. We enjoyed the amazing food. Lots to choose from the breakfast menu. We booked dinner in the conservatory and the food was delicious. It was lovely to relax and enjoy our surroundings. A lovely outside area to sit and have a drink and watch the sunset. The service was outstanding. Will certainly be back for another stay.

Tips:

We visited Campbeltown and Machrihanish. Lots of lovely quality gift shops in Campbeltown. We visited Tea on the Quay. Ideal for a cuppa and lunch.

The score on the Hotel criteria is all 5/5 ie 100%. But there is more to this hotel than that. It's a hidden gem and we have already recommended it to our friends. Nothing is too much trouble, all you need do is ask. Reasonable prices and a hotel on an empty beach facing West so you can watch the sunset whilst eating a great dinner! What else would you want? Tips:

This is a Peninsula. The West Coast can have the Atlantic breakers and the East coast can be a millpond. There is wildlife abound here, bring your binoculers

We had an absolutely fantastic break, visiting the Argyll Hotel for the weekend. The location is perfect, it has such a rural feel and is right on the beach - what more could you ask for?! We were so comfortable at the hotel, as were our two dogs. It was their first holiday with us so I was a little apprehensive but the relaxed setting meant they loved their trip. All staff were extremely friendly and kind to both us and the dogs which was so lovely. Ian, Nick and all other staff members were great. Everyone was very chatty and helpful. We dined in both evenings and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. There was a great selection on the menu and great specials too. The drinks selections was excellent and we liked being able to try some local gins! Everything was excellent value for money. The room was cosy and comfortable, with everything you would need. The shower was fab - which is always a plus! We would love to come back, and will no doubt! It is so nice to know there is somewhere so great to take the dogs while on holiday.

Tips:

We made the most of the great weather and visited Gigha on the Saturday. We left the car on the mainland and just went on as foot passengers. It only cost around £11-£12 so very reasonable. It was a nice adventure! We had lunch at The Boathouse and then did a walk we had found on the Walkhighlands website. It allowed us to get great views from the highest point of Gigha over to Isla, Jura and back to the mainland. I would recommend a trip over to Gigha, it was a great way to spend an afternoon. The beaches are lovely. On the Sunday morning, we took a five minute drive down to Westport Beach. The weather had taken a turn but it didn't make the walk unpleasant. Westport beach a is wide, long beach, so plenty of room for people and dogs running around. There is so much we wish to explore, and will do on our next trip :-) Thank you for having us, Lauren, Dan, Biscuit and Paddington

Absolutely fabulous in every way! Loved the hotel so much I actually booked another stay before I’d even gone to bed the first night... The hotel is lovely, location is amazing staff very accommodating, however the overwhelming thing for me is the atmosphere - it’s pretty special, there’s no formula for that but these guys have got it nailed. The food is gorgeous with fresh seafood from Tarbert and a great variety on the menu. I am so looking forward to my return.

Tips:

Loads to do in this fabulous part of the world, Kintyre has a wild beauty and is also full of tranquility. Beaches are plentiful unspoilt clean and quiet. ( May ‘21 just as lockdown was easing) and it felt like the whole of the UK were heading North. Mull of Kintyre lighthouse is dramatic and worth a visit. Various gardens, Carradale bay in the East side of the Peninsula loads of excellent walking, the list goes on. You’ll love Kintyre.

Been coming here a long time. Some things the same, some new. Same warm welcome and familiar comfortable layout on bright ground floor, but now stylish updates in the rooms, with tasteful use of wood and lovely tones in decor, along with modern ensuites.Food was always very good but this time it was outstanding. Well done, you 2 and team!

Tips:

With that beach right in front of you, you'd not feel very inclined to move, but browsing around Campbeltown shops or ascending the steps to see the view from Tarbert castle builds a good appetite for the Argyll's dinners!

Sorry but its a cliche or two- very helpful and friendly staff team, good fit for the hotel, rooms complete after refit, great coffee from top machine, food well cooked and tasty, breakfast a huge success with good choices. The location is second to none beach view and access speaking! Splendid. It's a dog friendly hotel, dog owners really appreciated the tone etc and I think behaved accordingly. Dogs too! Great stay.

Tips:

Carradale, Saddell, Cambletown - distilleries in each - trip to The Mull, Southend, golf courses at Carradale, Southend and Machrihanish and 'Dunes'. World famous cake shop at Southend, book ahead for table, carry away possible for car sitting.Go to see Machrihanish golf course good bar restaurant there, wonderful beach.Cambletown is interesting with a few small shops and a good walk to the island.

Stayed here a single night whilst on business. It's in a fabulous location just a stride from a soft sandy beach. Very warm and friendly welcome. Cosy clean and modern room with a view out over the beach to the sea. Enjoyed an ample and flavoursome evening meal in the conservatory style dining room which again has panoramic views of the sea. Comfy bed facing the window and view, and with the window open, I like fresh air, it was great falling asleep to the sound of lapping waves. The following morning the view was enhanced with by bright March sunshine and after a hot shower and bracing beach walk had a hearty full Scottish breakfast. Couldn't ask for more! When lockdown is over will definitely return with the family.

Tips:

Only here the one night so didn't have time to explore but the coastal road from the hotel to Campbeltown has a wild beauty. Lots to explore here so can't wait to get back.

Yet another winner of a trip to The Argyll Hotel. It really is a blissfully peaceful place to stay. We started every morning with a walk along the beach before tucking in to Ian’s spectacular breakfast choices. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu but Ian’s green eggs are a treat. We even got to sample some home mad jam that was so fresh it was still warm. Location and food are two very good reasons to visit but the friendly welcome and hospitality throughout our whole visit is definitely what makes us come back. You feel like the staff can’t do enough for you, nothing is a problem and it is all delivered with genuine smiles and warmth. Covid protocols were clear and we felt safe and protected. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you to Ian, Nick and their Bellochantuy Team, especially Talla and her waggy tail.

Food, hospitality and comfort were all excellent.

The Springbank distillery tour (which we did on our first visit) is the best we've done, Machrihanish Dunes makes for a lovely walk, Campbeltown is interesting as is the Mull of Kintyre, Saddell Castle and Abbey, including the Gormley statue on Saddell Bay, all well worth a visit.

Food was delicious and we enjoyed sitting on the beach front terrace with stunning views and walks along the beach too. Nick and Ian were great hosts. Definitely will stay at this hotel again!

Tips:

We drove down to the Mull of Kinture lighthouse to look over to Northern Ireland and spotted some local deer on the way! Lovely quiet place to stay with amazing views. Great breakfasts and as we stayed for two nights we used the restaurant for dinner too. The hosts were very accommodating and adhered to all the new Covid restrictions that were thrown at us from Scot Gov, during our stay. Rooms were spacious and clean.

Tips:

The meals in house are more than adequate, so no need to drive into town for to find restaurants.

A perfect location for us coming to play golf at Machrahanish. Hosts were really friendly and accommodating, making us feel really welcome, despite a fairly late arrival. From booking, to arrival and our stay the staff could not have been more helpful. We booked direct and our stay included breakfast, which was the best freshest Full Scottish Breakfast we’d had anywhere. The evening before we had gone for the three course meal which again was lovely. The hotel faces the beach and gave great views of Islay and Jura as the sun went down. We travelled with our seven month old cocker spaniel and this is a truly dog friendly hotel with a towel, blanket and chews provided in the room. We highly recommend this hotel and will return. Thank you for a fantastic stay!

Tips:

This hotel is located on a lovely beach for an evening walk. A couple of miles south is a larger beach for a longer walk. Both beaches were the cleanest we have seen anywhere with clean white sand, popular with surfers.

We cannot think of another hotel in Scotland with such a magnificent view. Our room was comfortable and had every facility. The bathroom especially was large with a huge walk in shower. Loved the taps! Food is very good and there is a decent wine list and also a large selection of local gins.

Tips:

It was recommended that we use the hotel’s packed lunch service. We were glad that we had done so. We didn’t come across many places in the area where you could get something to eat. The packed lunch was excellent and included some of Ian’s superb home baking,

The Argyll provides superb accomodation. We had a sea view room , with a big window looking straight out to sea. We could drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves breaking and wake up to oyster catchers piping on the shore. Wonderful! Very clean and nicely decorated public areas too, all recently refurbished and the large conservatory restaurant provides a wonderful place to enjoy the excellent food while watching the waves outside and the sun setting on a clear horizon. We enjoyed several pints of real ale out on the patio as the weather was warm and sunny, and if you like beach walks, the beach is on your doorstep here. The attention to detail for cleanliness was excellent, and the staff very careful to follow the strict Covid guidelines. Service was excellent with Nick and Ian both ready to chat and advise on any places to visit. The menu was very extensive and satisfied both the vegetarian and the carnivores in our party of four. We stayed 3 nights and thought the meals were excellent and really good value. The cajun spiced haggis balls starter was exceptionally good and I had it 3 nights in a row! And the "Green eggs" veggie breakfast was another star. Oh and Ian's home-made jams and marmalade too. We will be back again!

Tips:

The Argyll is a fairly long way from anywhere else, so take advantage of their excellent food and beers and don't think of eating anywhere else! Very handy for the Gigha ferry at Tayinloan, 20 min by car, and the huge beach at Westport just 10 min the other way.

The food is all fresh, local and importantly to us is prepared when ordered not sat in a hot plate. The local area has some amazing beaches and to be honest there is something for everyone nearby. What was important for us was the fact the hotel is Doggy friendly and they really made our dog and everyones very welcome, even left doggy chews in the room for their 4 legged guests. Nice touch.

A return visit to a favourite place. In light of the Covid 19 restrictions, numbers of diners and visitors are reduced and the place is very safe and relaxed - a difficult balance to achieve. We were in one of the refurbished rooms, which was beautiful and also spacious. We will be back soon.

Tips:

Beaches, beaches, beaches! Bellochantuy, Westport, Dunaverty (via Muneroys for cake), Carskiey (also via Muneroys for cake), Machrihanish (via the Old Club House for lunch and Wifi). Campbeltown : Picture House, Springbank Distillery tour; Campbeltown Pottery; Royal Hotel (for coffee and cake and Wifi); Davaar Island. Gigha, if you have time.

Fabulous location. All staff make you feel so welcome, nothing is a problem, just amazing hosts. Food is so scrumptious. Rooms have been upgraded and are just gorgeous and comfortable.Great value for money with a fantastic breakfast to set you up for the day. Fantastic walks along the beach. We go every year now for our wedding anniversary since it was recommended to us by friends. Couldn't wish for anywhere more beautiful for a break. Thank you all.

Tips:

The area is just idyllic for a quiet break away. Beautiful walks with the beach just off the hotel. Small coffee shop and garden centre nearby. Very busy though so recommend booking.

Tips:

Plenty of good and interesting walks in the area, but the beach directly in front of the hotel and the views to the Isles are easily enough for a few relaxing days. The hotel restaurant is excellent- breakfast is outstanding- Creamy Laird’s Porridge and the Green Eggs are awesome. This was my third visit to the Argyll Hotel and once again it did not disappoint! The owners and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Even with the new restrictions in place, they managed to observe distancing but remain chatty and friendly.

Tips:

There are several lovely beaches not far away, including Westpont, Southend and Macrihanish. In Campbeltown be sure to visit Linda McCartney's memorial garden, with its beautiful flower beds and statue of Linda. Also in Campbeltown is a lovely art deco cinema with a cafe. Even if it is closed due to the lockdown, it is worth a look.

If you are thinking of visiting Kintyre (you should!) then I cannot think of a better place to be based. Thank you again Ian and Nick for all you do. Paul

Tips:

The best views of Jura and Arran form both sides of the peninsula in a place that is more tranquil than many of the busier parts of Scotland. The beaches and walking activities are second to none. 27th August 2019:

The staff is friendly, the location is lovely. If you want to get away from all noisy and busy city-life - the right place to be.. When the weather is nice you could walk along the coast, climbing and enjoying the landscape and the fresh clean air. If there is really bad weather you can stay inside and play billiard or sit in one of the cosy corners of the dining room reading a book or a newspaper, with the panoramic view of the entire beach in front of you.

Tips:

The room is clean, comfortable, warm (carpet on the floor, very good heating). The only thing you have to take with you is your toothbrush and toothpaste - everything else is there. Hairdryer and even a curling iron. Bathroom is new, with towel-heater. Enough plugs, a TV and WiFi for free. The food is delicious. The portions are big. The price-performance ratio is superlative. The "entertainment" or "event" is the exclusive and authentic place itself.

Tips:

Chill out on the beach, support the cinema in town, the whole of Kintyre is worth a couple days exploring - West Port, Machrihanish, Southend, Carradale. Back to hotel and chill out again.

Very warm welcome from Nick and Ian at this lovely hotel especially for our dog Bonnie - they provide a blanket and towel for dogs which is a nice touch. Our evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was the best one of our whole holiday (never tasted scrambled eggs like it!) Our room was spacious and recently refurbished so very modern and everything works.

Tips:

We did the drive down the east coast of Kintyre from Claonaig to Campbeltown which was very pretty. Unfortunately the weather was dreadful, non stop pouring rain so we didn’t see much of the Mull of Kintyre due to the mist.

Tips:

Don't miss Westport Beach, midway between the hotel and Campbeltown. A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), with rolling dunes, magnificent sands and breaking Atlantic waves. The Campbeltown Picture House dates from 1913 and is the oldest continuously running cinema in Scotland. Grade 'A' listed, it has an art nouveau exterior, an 'atmospheric' interior, and has been wonderfully restored with the addition of a second screen built on open ground at the rear. If the film programme on the day doesn't appeal, there are occasional free tours. There's a good cafe as well. Springbank Distillery, in the heart of Campbeltown, is still (miraculously) family-owned, and is the only distillery to complete the entire whisky making process on the one site. There are regular expert-led tours, a wee sniffer on the way round, and a free miniature single malt to take away at the end. A trip up the east coast, more rugged than the west, is well worth it. Stop off on the way to see Saddell Castle, a 16th century tower-house overlooking Kilbrannan Sound, and the nearby ruins of Saddell Abbey. Beyond Carradale, the road is mainly single-track with passing places.

Wonderful hospitality from Ian and Nick and their friendly staff in a beautiful relaxing setting. The food was exceptional from the home made jam and delicious porridge, Ian’s green sauce on smoked haddock and muffins,to the varied evening menu! Great value too including the exciting gins on offer... The bed was extremely comfortable which is very important to me as, due to arthritis, I don’t normally sleep away from home. Also the location of this lovely friendly and exceptionally clean hotel cannot be matched!

Tips:

We decided not to take the car as the Glasgow to Campbeltown bus stops right outside the hotel on Bellochantuy Bay. Although not regular we timed the bus to drop us off at Tayinloan to get the ferry to Isle of Gigha (the ferry is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the bus stop.) We highly recommend a visit to this idyllic island which is only a 20 minute ferry away from the mainland. The Boathouse resataurant offers everything from a coffee to an ice cream or a fabulous fishy lunch! You can also catch the same bus going the other way to visit Campbeltown.

Have stayed in this hotel many times over the last 20 years. I stop going due to the poor state of the building. It is lovely to see the renovation work that has gone into this hotel and the dedication of the staff. They should be very proud of their hard work. Ian and Nick advised they still have some work to do and if that’s the case I look forward to visiting again very soon. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. First place I can truly say is totally dog friendly. The owners are lovely guys. Nothing too much trouble for them. Very attentive.

Tips:

The food is the hotel was excellent so I didn't feel the need to eat elsewhere. Would recommend going to Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse, Southend Beach.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Argyll Hotel. Our room was lovely with the added extras af a treat for our dog and a doggy towel - handy after a womble on the beach. The food was gorgeous and we would definitely stay again.

Tips:

Totally dog friendly which is brilliant. Nick and Ian have a great deal of local knowledge of the area and were super helpful with places to go and things to see and do.

26th March 2019:

Fabulous location and a very warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff. We were a party of six with 2 dogs visiting for a long weekend. Very relaxing with fantastic scenery and great food. We have been visiting for 3 years and over the time the owners have been working on various upgrades. Latest is a recently completed bedroom refurbishment. Other areas will follow and by then facilities will be five star.

Tips:

Lovely beach at the hotel and probably one of the best in Scotland within a couple of miles (Westport Beach) Miles of golden sand on the Atlantic Ocean. Great golf and amazing scenery. The drive from Tarbert is one of the nicest with great views to Islay, Ghia, Jura and Northern Ireland. Great spot for stargazing as well. No light pollution so Dark Skies.

Lovely re firbished room with an amazing view of the sea. The hotel were very understanding of our travel difficulties due to cancelled , rearranged ferry timetable. All staff were helpful. I like the fact that there are Scottish themed books for sale to residents.

Tips:

Only across for supermarket shopping and the dentist but the local scenery is nice.

We had a lovely stay and were made to feel really welcome. The new rooms are beautiful and ours was extremely comfortable. We genuinely felt that our dog was just as welcome as we were, ensuring that we were able to relax and enjoy the hospitality extended to us.

Tips:

Although 'The Gallery' cafe in Tarbert was not open when we visited, it's worth seeking this out. Dog-friendly and welcoming.

Returning to Argyll Hotel, last visit 1946! Highly recommend especially the magnificence of location in the winter, waves crashing in off the Atlantic. Very nice welcome from one of the owners. Mega comfortable mattrasses. Good evening mea. Lots of little touches to make visitorts welcome. Nice easy parking next to hotel. Peaceful and magnificent.

Tips:

Only stayed briefly but lots to do inj Campbelltown both for sunny and for rainy days. Check tides and walk to Davaar to see the crucification cave. Good beaches at Machrahanish.
