What a lovely stay we had at the Argyll Hotel. Nick and Ian were most welcoming and and were the perfect hosts. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard and what a view you get over to Gigha and Islay. The staff at dinner and breakfast were first class. Meals were excellent and very well presented and tasty. Would highly recommend.

The Kintyre coast has magnificent scenery and well worth a visit.

Another fab weekend at the Argyll Hotel.... Welcomed by friendly staff, as usual, we were quickly settled in to our fav room which was one of the rooms with the view over the beach. Dinner menu has a good selection of options for all tastes and portions are plentiful! Breakfast also has a wide range of options and is enjoyed in the restaurant overlooking the beach. As regular visitors to the hotel, our ratings are based on our expectations vs previous experiences. We choose to come back time and again because of the location, the plentiful food, the staff and the dog friendly policy..... and of course there is the beautiful beach :-)

As above - we choose the hotel for its location on the beach at Bellochantuy however Campbeltown is only a short drive away, or the bus stops directly outside the hotel. We enjoy exploring the towns, villages and beaches around the region whatever the season.

Nestled right on the beach, the hotel offered breathtaking views that made every moment feel like a postcard. Waking up to the sound of waves and enjoying my morning coffee while gazing out at the ocean was simply magical. What truly set this hotel apart was their incredible hospitality towards our furry friend. From the moment we arrived, Ian & Nick went above and beyond to make our dog feel welcome. The hotel’s location was perfect for beach walks, and there were plenty of nearby trails and parks for our dog to explore. My second stay here this year. The standard is very far above what I have found elsewhere for similar (or indeed much higher) prices. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is extremely relaxing. Excellent breakfasts and dinners.

The Glasgow bus stops at the door of the hotel, and although the bus service is sparse it is perfectly possible to enjoying a few relaxing days here without a car, and still have outings to Campbeltown and elsewhere.

You could stay here and not need to go anywhere else, but you should see the varied scenery at such places as Machrihanish, Southend, Carradale, and even a walk up Barr Glen or up the forestry road to Lussa Loch gives a different perspective on Kintyre from simply going to Campbeltown.

A wonderful, quiet location right next to the beach. Many seabirds to lookout for and we saw a pod of dolphins swim by one evening! We were welcomed by the lovely owners and their staff and felt very much at home here. Breakfasts were excellent, with lots of options to choose from. All staff were very kind and very accommodating to all our needs!!! All the food (and drinks) at the restaurant were delicious and very reasonably-priced. Views of the beach and ocean were relaxing, esp while dining. Rooms were nice and clean (with good showers with modern amenities). It was a big plus that bus stop right across road from the hotel and the bus service was wonderful.

Go to Glenbarr village (right down the road) to eat at the wonderful cafe and go to garden center and take walk to see exterior of Glenbarr Abbey.

What a fantastic place, we loved it and intend to go back. The owners are friendly and helpful, other staff members are also attentive and efficient. the room we booked had a sea view which was stunning and beautiful. Although you couldn't get outside,the door with the sea view could be opened fully or tilted, allowing the full sound of the sea into the room. Stunning. We ate in the resteraunt, in the conservatory and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We loved this hotel, and if we had known about it sooner we would have booked for a longer stay.

The hotel is situated not far from the kennacraig ferry, follow the A83 south towards Campbeltown and it is on your left next to Bellochantuy Beach holiday park. Within the hotel there is a seperate bar, and seating area. There is a seperate area in the conservatory for pre/post dinner drinks. Outside there is a seating area, with a gate onto the beach. Heaven for a wee walk. The resteraunt welcomes dogs.

A perfect place to stay. Quiet and relaxing. The staff was friendly and a pleasure to deal with. I'd highly recommend booking dinner there. The dinner and breakfast were great with a wonderful view of the beach.

Make sure you stop at Westport Beach. A wonderful spot near the hotel. If you have the time and are a fan of scotch, I would recommend stopping in Campbeltown for a tour of a distillery.

We really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Argyll Hotel. It’s in a great location down by the beach with views of Islay, Jura and The Isle of Gigha. The food we had at the hotel was amazing. We really enjoyed our breakfast and evening meals, the only problem was we only stayed 4 nights and didn’t get a chance to try everything on the menu !

A trip over to the Isle of Gigha is a must, it is so peaceful and beautiful around the gardens at Achamore House. If you like whisky 🥃 a trip to Glen Scotia and Springbank distilleries is a must although it was impossible to get a bottle of Springbank 15 yr old as there was none in stock and there was at least 30 outside at 10am next morning! Also if you are feeling adventurous a drive out to the Mull of Kintyre which is quite hair raising in itself before you walk down a very steep slope and then approximately 80 metres up to your right to see the memorial cairn dedicated to the chinook helicopter crash in 1994 when 29 people lost their lives. It’s very windy down there and the walk back up to the car park is not for the faint hearted.

We just loved this hotel even although we had a small room next to the front door and overlooking the cars parked outside. It’s a place where you can really relax. Nicely decorated, very light and airy, three separate lounge spaces, a restaurant with stunning captivating views over the Atlantic and a cute little bar. The breakfast was lovely with an extensive choice of very original dishes. The dinner menu was excellent value for money. All members of staff were absolutely charming and made us feel totally at home. A really enjoyable three night stay. We could quite happily have stayed longer.

Always highest standards - very laid back but really effiicent and enjoyable. Spotless modern interiors. The Breakfasts particularly imaginative , well presented and ample. Breakfast staff delightful. Ian a particularly good cook with lots of natural creativity. Evening service too pretty faultless when Nick on duty. Not a great variety on menu for Vegetarians though. If you don't eat meat or shellfish it is very limited. The the only sticking point for us.( No omlettes available for example). The lovely large and light restauraunt with great sea views is also a well-behaved doggie friendly area - hospitable and quirky. This not a disturbing factor to those of us staying with no doggies who love canines too. Bedrooms spotless with modern facilities . A little jewel in a stunning setting.

Fabulous hosts Ian and Nick bring a considerate and individual vibe with highest standards at The Argyll Hotel, with two sweet- natured Dalmations! It has a beautiiful beach just outside with a big sky. Westport beach ( walking/surfing) only 5 miles away. Campbletown a little further. A great handmade chocolate shop in the main street along with other historical interests and harbour. Good cafes etc. Lovely preserved original Art Deco small cinema centrally in the town. Or leave Campbletown, (narrow lanes and dips! ) to the Southend for those who love exploring by car.

Our stay exceeded all our expectations. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived. Our room was beautifully decorated and clean with a comfortable bed, excellent shower and stunning sea view. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and the evening food and drinks were the perfect way to round off a day exploring the area. Nick, Ian and the staff team couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful.

My husband loved playing both the golf courses at Machrahanish and the dog and I enjoyed walks on the many beaches and trails. Particular favourites were Westport beach, Davaar Island and Saddell Bay

What a gem of a place this hotel is. The setting on the beach is perfect. The bedrooms are very clean and well presented. Perfect for bringing your dog/s on a fun holiday. Dogs are allowed in all areas including the conservatory where meals are taken and all are well behaved. The food is exceptional a very hearty breakfast and the evening menu is varied and very generous. Drinks are not overpriced for a hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you and are always happy to help and share their knowledge of the area

The Kintyre peninsula is such a lovely place to visit. I cannot comment on restaurants because I always eat at the hotel but there is a great selection of tea rooms for lunch or afternoon tea. The beaches are so clean as is the sea, very little litter on the beaches. There is a beach around every bend in the road, some offer water sports. Campbeltown is small but very pleasant for a walk round. Two supermarkets, Tesco and co-op for any bits and pieces needed. A visit to Tarbert is a must as is a day trip to Gigha. You can also have a day in Arran by using the ferry on the peninsula.

Beautiful location and lovely comfortable hotel to relax in after a long walk along the beach . 5 mins to another fantastic beach and 15 mins into Campbeltown with its distillery’s and unique wee cinema which is well worth a visit.

The fact we take 3 boats to get here speaks volumes. The welcome and hospitality is fab from Nick and Ian and the food is divine. We talk about this hotel often and just going able to relax here is fabulous. We will be back.

Hotel is situated right on the beach and tge restaurant overlooks this which is stunning. It might be a little out if the way but if wanting to stay in Campbeltown, go this bit further and you won't be disappointed. Good parking. Clean modern rooms and 2 beautiful dogs. If bringing your dog they get their own sheet in the information book.

Well organised and run small hotel with a personal touch. Been many times and love to return. Very accepting of dogs and ensure there is always bedding for them and a treat! Well done to this small team.

Many places to explore, its such a beautiful area. Westport beach (2miles approx towards Campbelltown) is a must. Many islands close by , you will be spoilt for choice. Some people stay a week or so at this hotel and I can see why.

Lovely stay again, the weather was beautiful and sitting on the patio practically on the beach with a cold beer was perfect. As always Nick, Ian and the team were warm and welcoming and Milo (my dog) enjoyed his welcome treat. We will be back soon !

Machrihanish is only a short drive away and you are almost guaranteed to see some seals. Further round Campbeltown loch is Southend which is also lovely.

Had a really lovely two night stay at the lovely Argyll Hotel as a small group of friends. Ian, Nick, staff and dogs were all really welcoming and helpful. We stayed here as part of our tour of Kintyre 66. Beautiful scenery and different points of interest to stop on the way (eg Skipness Castle, Saddell Bay and Abbey). Would recommend the Blackbird Cafe at Carradale for lunch and wee walk at the harbour after.

Could not have asked for a better place to stay on our trip to the Mull of Kintyre. A friend had recommended this hotel to us and he was so right. The staff were friendly and helpful. The owners were amazing - they have designed the hotel so tastefully and we so enjoyed sitting outside soaking in the view. Our meals were delicious but best of all was how dog friendly everyone was. Our dog was so happy!

The hotel is in a perfect location for us and the surrounding scenery is stunning. The rooms are adequate and comfortable, the food excellent and well presented. Love everything about this place, the location, the owners Nick and Ian, the Dalmatian’s, the food everything!! We have started making this an annual trip and we are always welcomed and feel at home. The food is amazing and it’s such a relaxing environment. The location is stunning right on the beach and a view of Islay on a clear day with terrific sunsets. This was a return visit for us as we enjoyed our first visit so much. We love the relaxed friendly feel of this hotel, and the warm welcome is extended to your canine companions. On arrival as well as all your needs being met in the spacious rooms you are provided with an extra towel and blanket for your dog and a little treat for them. We really enjoyed the three course dinner with lots of choices followed by a drink in the bar with Luna our spaniel who was really excited to see the hosts dalmatians Winter & Logan. After a great night’s sleep a lovely full Scottish breakfast set us up perfectly for the day. Thanks again for another really enjoyable stay in your truly dog friendly hotel.

The hotel beach is lovely for an evening walk or first thing in the morning. For a longer walk we headed down to Westport Beach a short drive down the coast. In our travels we stopped at Big Jessie’s Tea Room at Gigha Ferry Port for lunch another local dog friendly stop. On our way home this time we took a slight detour to visit the Crinan Canal where we stopped for a coffee and a slice of cake at Polly’s Coffee Stop a great local business running out of a converted horse box parked at one of the locks.

The location is beautiful with views across to Isla and Jura However the east coast of Kintyre is well worth a look too but the road needs careful attention due to a lot of it being single track If you get a chance go down to Southend and you will see plenty of seals basking on the rocks

We received a lovely welcome when we arrived for our three night stay. As always, our room was extremely comfortable and our dog was made to feel most welcome in all areas of the hotel. Breakfasts and dinners were beautifully prepared and the service was excellent as was the wide selection of drinks.The staff were so helpful in every way. The view from the conservatory where we ate was stunning , overlooking Islay and Jura, Another highlight for us was walking on the beautiful beach on the doorstep.A wonderful place to stay.

So much to see and do. This time we visited the shop and garden centre at Glenbarr, walked the sands at Westport, Macrihanish and A’Cleitch beaches, visited Skipness Castle, shopped in Tarbert and Campbeltown,visited Carradale and Beinn an Tuirc Distillery and so much more. We did not manage to fit in our favourite ferry trips to Gigha, Islay and Arran. Hopefully next time!

A Hotel is made up of a combination of factors. This hotel has every key factor well in hand. This hotel is all about the guest. I will not write a long boring review of how good it is. But know this - it is a brilliant hotel run by very guest-focused people. I will be recommending it and we will return with Blue(our very happy dog)

First classservice everything thank could be asked for in a first class hotel. Staff pleasant and most helpful in every way even to adjusting situation of bed rooms where necessary. Good first class with menu changed every evening . The cocker spaniel which accompanied us had a ball, trying to do a King Canute with the breakers and being equally unsuccessful !!

Ten miles from Campbeltown which is well worth a visit;the ArtDeco Picture House is worth seeing; the Painting on Davaar Island is also worth seeing-beware the tides; statuette of Lady McCartney; memorial to Sir William MacKinnon in Kirk Street;(founder of British India Company)road to Mull of Kintyre lighthouse- careful and only if it’s a clear day( lovely view across to N. Ireland); Ardshiel Hotel for meals; Saddell where Mull of Kintyre song was first played etc .

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean, especially for a dog friendly establishment, as I have allergies, but thankfully had no issues here. Room was a little small, but had everything you would need. Breakfast was very tasty, and was served up with a stunning view of Western Isles. Superb value for money.

Absolutely loved staying here, the atmosphere was so welcoming and relaxing. The food was very good, nice selection and well cooked. There are no words to say how good the breakfast was. Nick was very attentive and made us feel totally at home. The room was lovely and we slept to the sound of the waves, the only downside was the pillows were really hard and uncomfortable for us. Will definitely be back.

The only tip I have is look out the window, sit back and relax. Stunning location.

Excellent place to chill out . Had a lovely weekend even though weather wasn't so pleasant , Ian,Nick and all the staff made our weekend enjoyable with brilliant meals and friendly atmosphere.Beach walks for us and our dog right by the hotel made it the ideal location.

Campbeltown is 10 minutes away if you want a wee shop and look around or you can just chill out and be fully catered for within the hotel , serving meals,teas,coffees most days, and you can purchase paintings,glassware and other pieces by local artists within the hotel as well.
