11th November 2024:
Fabulous dinner and stay once again at the Kilchrenan Inn. The food was beautifully prepared and cooked with a great choice for all palates. Warm, comfortable room with a soft and a firm pillow for each. Tastefully decorated everywhere, giving a very cosy feeling all round.
Tips:Plenty to do all around the hotel. Oban is nearby, walking opportunities, standing stones at Kilmartin, distillery tours etc… Wouldn’t go elsewhere to eat though: enjoy all the Kilchrenan Inn has to offer.

We were welcomed warmly and with attention to our needs for dinner as we were arriving a bit later (7p) than expected. The staff went above and beyond finding us help when we came out to a flat tire in the morning. The team at Kilchrenan Inn is outstanding.
Tips:this is a lovely Inn about 20-30 minute drive to Oban.

I only have good things to say about this inn, including how spotless the rooms are - it was all lovely. But the staff were exceptional. So welcoming, from the point of check in through the gorgeous meal (including lovely chef who checked in with me personally on dietary requirements) right to the smiley, happy lady who served us breakfast. I have stayed in many a Highland inn but this one has a proper community feel and is a cut above most. To top it off, the roast was amazing (my husband says it’s the best he’s ever eaten, which is saying something)!
Tips:This area, including nearby Taynuilt, is so beautiful and has a fascinating history. The old iron works in Taynuilt are fascinating, and the walks around here are gorgeous.

We took our time to find the right accommodation for us, and choosing the Kilchrenan Inn could not have been a better find. Suited us right down to the ground, off the beaten track surrounded by beautiful countryside which was great for us and our two dogs. Accommodation was beautiful ( room 3) spacious and comfy and then the food, to die for, everything we had was delicious highly recommend the crab mac and cheese. Staff were so lovely, could not do enough for you. Fantastic few days away, we will definitely be back - 5 star rating

The staff were lovely. The room was nice maybe a radio or music of some sort would be an idea. The bed and linen were nice as were the towels. Evening meal was ok maybe a 3/5 more seafood would be nice, the breakfast was good 4/5 The situation was lovely and peaceful the outside of the inn could do with a tidy up and maybe some flower pots and plants to soften it up. We would stay again

Owner Response:Thank you. You must have missed the 10 wooden planters full of newly potted flowers that are dotted around the outside of the pub and the Bose speakers that are in the rooms which can be connected to wireless devices via bluetooth.

Absolutely wonderful couple of nights at The Kilchreran Inn. The owners and staff are so friendly and helpful, we and our Vizsla Otto felt immediately at home. Although we were running late on the first evening, Pio made us feel at ease and treated us to a delicious dinner when we arrived. The bed is extremely comfortable and a lovely room and bathroom too. We ate both nights at the Inn and the food is really fantastic. Would highly recommend a stay and dinner here.
Tips:We had many beautiful walks by Loch Awe and in the local woods. All are well signposted. We had a quick stop in Oban for fresh langoustines and mussles by the quayside.

We had an amazing stay at Kilchrenann Inn! Warm and welcoming staff that make you feel at home in an instant. We had a lovely dinner and delicious breakfast at the Inn and the room was clean and nicely decorated. Loved the location and drive, a little bit tucked away from the busy everyday life. Staff also provided us with some tips of things to do in the surroundings. We were sad to leave already after one night and would love to come back in the future :)
Tips:Dalavich is just a short drive away for a nice short hike to the Avich falls Dalavich Oakwood Forest https://maps.app.goo.gl/EuHTA3U3JAfbxm8PA?g_st=ic The restaurant at the Inn is really good and has a nice vibe, so recommend eating there :)

We arrived on a pretty ‘dreich’ cold day, so it was so nice to have a warm welcome from the owner and also the wood burner was roaring away. We had dinner too and that was delicious as was breakfast. The rooms are lovely and the whole place is spotless. The owners and staff go above and beyond to care for your needs. Look forward to coming back for a few days longer next time.
Tips:In times like these when costs are going up for us all and It’s especially tough for small businesses I think rather than staying at big corporate places we should all try and support smaller, family run places where it’s really appreciated and you actually feel better yourself giving them some business.

Everything about The Kilchrenan Inn exceeded our expectations. Our room was so well put together and the fitting and fixtures beautiful-you can really tell this is a passion project down to the tap/shower and even the bins! It was cosy and inviting when we arrived, we slept like babies in the plush bed and the shower in the morning was bliss-1000x better than our home shower! Everyone we met were super friendly and helpful-very relaxed and nothing was too much trouble. Can’t even begin to talk about the food-genuinely out of this world and way beyond anything we expected. We had the rack of lamb and the chicken, ham and tarragon pie and it was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Will absolutely be returning- Thank you so much!
Tips:We had breakfast and dinner here and would absolutely recommend-it made our trip. We travelled to Tobermory for the day and then other days stayed local headed to Airds Bay and other nearby walks which were beautiful.

The current restrictions imposed by the COVID situation are a good test for any business in the hospitality sector. Pip and Phil have done an amazing job here and along with their ever-helpful and friendly team have created a 'safe' space for travellers to enjoy their usual levels of hospitality, which are excellent. Instantly apologetic for the necessary absence of some of the touches that set Kilchrenan apart from an 'average' establishment, you soon see how much time and effort has been invested into making your stay as safe as possible.
Tips:The Kilchrenan Inn is situated well off the beaten track, yet is only a short drive from the main Oban-Tyndrum road that allows access to either the delights of the West Coast or the Central Highlands. During the summer months make sure you take ample supplies of midge repellant as these little monsters are part ofScottish life!

Brillant guys, Kirsty and I were made to feel vary safe, and very comfortable, without any pressure. Cant compliments the attention to detail from both Phil and Pip when it came to cleanliness and hygiene, but this did not sacrifice any level of service. Room was kitted out with high level kit which made the time spent in the room just a bit more relaxed, decent music system and quality Nespresso coffee. Food was top notch from perfectly cooked Rack of lamb for dinner, to homemade granola in the morning. Top drawer!
Tips:This is a pretty sparse location, so be prepared to designate a driver if spending more than a couple of days, but if just here for a short stay there are lovely walks and small adventures for kids. The guys are even happy for you to bring your own Nespresso pods if you are a coffee addict like me!

This was the surprise highlight of my trip to Scotland so far. I say this as I didn’t expect to find a place of this high level of quality in a tiny village like Kilchrenan. The decor was beautifully done out, the food is the best I’ve had in Scotland over two trips now and the hosts Phil and Pip were super friendly, accommodating and a pleasure to be around. Almost like being around old friends. Thank you for an unforgettable time.
Tips:The only tip I can give other travelers is that you have to build a stay at the Kilchrenan Inn into your stay in Scotland....you will not regret it.

Excellent all round. The room was lovely, spacious and cosy with all the little touches (perhaps a box of tissues would be a good addition and fresh milk in a mini flask to keep it cold in the room). The food was the absolute stand out. Sebastian's food was first class and everything we ate was perfect. The service was friendly and welcoming and we wouldn't hesitate to return.
Tips:We didn't have much time in the area but we did do the circular walk at Inverinan as recommended by staff.

Kilchrenan Inn has been lovingly refurbished and you can tell the new owners are putting there heart and soul into the place. The welcome was warm, the room was immaculate and the food was delicious. We ate in the restaurant the evening of our stay and couldn’t fault it. Then breakfast the next morning kept us going all day. Nothing was to much trouble, the best placed we’ve stayed this holiday. Whilst we only engaged for one overnight stay,we were delighted with the facilities of the Kilchrenan Inn. A wonderfully warm welcome from Phil throughout a stormy snowy night created a superb backdrop for a wonderful meal prepared by Phillipa and a superb range of malt and whiskey liqueurs,a roaring open fire gave it the final touch. Anything missing...... A good ghost story. Then retired to a very comfortable bed. Fabulous place and fully recommended.

My wife and I stayed for 1night and so glad we did. What a find spectacular old coach refurbished to the highest specs. Interior is like stepping into a trendy NewYork Boutique. A little out of the way but well worth the 20 minutes from Oban. Restaurant food was excellent and good selection of wines. The hosts Pip and Phil are a delight engaging and informative. Nothing was to much trouble. If your looking for accommodation in the surrounding area the Kilchrenan Inn is a must

We would like to complement you and your staff on the outstanding facilities we were offered in our dog friendly room. Every comfort was included, from Arran toiletries,to local bottled water. The bed linen and towels were of the highest quality, too. Nothing could have been bettered. We were given a table in the bar with the dogs in the evening, then went into your restaurant for a superb meal. Your range of beers and drinks was interesting, with many choices. If possible, could you tell me the name of the lager I had, which was in your chiller? It was a bottle on the far left, with a a busy label, next to a can of lager!Approx 4.6%,and quite dark in colour. It was delicious, and I would like to buy some more! Breakfast was freshly cooked, with lots of items on offer. Attention to detail, from cutlery, napkins and decor throughout was impressive. We wish we could have stayed longer, but had to return to Arran. Just wish you were nearer to us! (not 400 miles away). Good luck with your wonderful Inn. You deserve it.

Best food of our small family trip around Scotland! The inn is charmingly situated and has a nice walk in all directions. The owners were incredibly accommodating besides being talented with the menu and design of space. The bunk bed built into an alcove have us a separate but together vibe much appreciated- wish more hotels were like this. The morning breakfast was made to order. My son had black pudding and the haggis- and loved it. It’s a bit of a drive to get to the inn but once there, peaceful, friendly and worth it!
Tips:Take a walk up the country road- the sweeping views are gorgeous. Also, stop at Kilchren Castle - not far. And by all means, try the lamb, the fish and the risotto on the dinner menu...plus the desserts. Missing it as we speak.

Kilchrenan Inn - Monarch of the Glen’s! As a background to our experience of travel and standards, we are seasoned worldwide travellers who’ve been lucky enough to experience 5 Star hotels all the way through to B&B’s from Eastern Europe to the Seychelles, Maldives, Caribbean and much more. Our stay at the Kilchrenan Inn was a return on a trip from 2 years ago and we hoped that our lovely experience from last time would be repeated. The Inn has only very recently re-opened with new owners; and we were their first long stay guests. The new owners Phil and Pippa have rejuvenated the Inn; redecorated rooms, added new fixtures and make you feel homely and welcome from the first time you arrive to the end of your stay. The food quality has remained high, and far better than dedicated restaurants that are in the area. The breakfasts are fantastic; fresh locally sourced ingredients used; from a continental cereal and pastries to a complete cooked English/Scottish breakfast (the black pudding and haggis are beautiful). My wife and I think their home-made granola is to die-for. The evening menu has good variety from roasted Lamb through to Brown Trout mains (lots more available) and the presentation and quality was second to none. The wine selection was very good as was the bar which was well stocked with traditional Whiskeys and local and premium drinks. The bar area has a traditional wood-burner; perfect for cosying-up to each other upon a return from a hike across the hills. The people in this area of Scotland are also extremely welcoming and friendly; we entered into many a lovely conversation during dinner. We stayed for 3 nights in Room 3. This room was generous in proportions, modern boutique style fittings, it has a lovely en-suite with a very comfortable Super-King Bed that had a well-weighted duvet and choice of soft and firm pillows. The room was as expected, spotlessly clean, refreshing, airy, supplied with crisp white bed linen, complimentary toiletries and soft fluffy towels. The room was heated well and very, very comfortable. The view from our room was to the distant hills and we got a super, sound sleep every night. Parking is great, check-in and check-out times can be tailored to suit and BT WI-FI coverage was excellent. What make this place special is it’s homely character and the owners; nothing is too much trouble and you can feel that they genuinely care for their guests and will do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. Our conclusion is that the Inn is a mini 5 Star boutique hotel that offers a high standard of accommodation, high quality of food and genuine customer care that many larger hotels across the world strive (and fail) to achieve. Myself and my wife had a fantastic stay and we will be back! Many thanks to Phil and Pippa for making our Highland-fling so memorable!
