Mandy and Colin are excellent hosts who have provided not only a unique place to stay but everything within to help you enjoy your stay in the area, including good advice about places to visit, things to do and where to eat out. Should you need further advice or help they are approachable and knowledgeable.
Tips:See above but we enjoyed two good bar suppers in the Colintraive Hotel and the most enjoyable lunch at Inver Cottage as a 'last day' treat.

1st July 2024:
We absolutely loved our stay at loch Riddon bothy. I especially loved all the thoughtful touches made by local makers (soap, toiletries, textiles, pottery, tea and coffee). Mandy was a fabulous host with helpful advice on walks and activities, and we especially appreciated the fire being lit for our arrival and the wonderful bounty of fruit and veg from the garden - a real treat. We had a wonderful time and would love to come back! Thank you Mandy!
Tips:I would absolutely highly recommend: - a meal at inver - a massive treat, and we keep going over the creativity and inventiveness the brought to the menu and how every little detail had been thought of. Beautiful setting too. - a day on bute - so easy to get to, we loved the walk around Kilchattan Bay and ended the day with a delicious g&t from Bute yard - a walk to the hill above the bothy for the hilltop views We also swam just off Carry Farm - it was a fun experience, if a little brisk!

2nd May 2024:
Apart from being in the most beautiful setting, surrounded by nature, a great deal of thought has gone into the design of the bothy and the items in it. There was everything we needed and it was the perfect place to stay.
Tips:The Calmac ferry ride to Bute (less than 4 minutes) just because every holiday on the west coast of Scotland needs a Calmac ferry ride!

8th April 2024:
Great hosts and lovely accommodation. Really appreciated having oil, coffee, milk, lovely soap and logs stocked up so we didn't need to worry about those. Great boardgames selection too! Only very small improvement would be to include a hand towel in the loo for after washing hands.
Tips:Inver! A walk to Kilbride beach (the ground may have been a lot wetter than usual given the weather but wellies required if you don't want soggy feet!). We didn't go during this trip but I'd recommend Puck's Glen for a wander too. Had hoped to do Benmore Gardens but unfortunately they were closed due to the wind.

Really appreciated the reset mid way through our stay, thank you! A couple of suggestions- as we were staying for 5 nights it would have been handy to have some storage space for our luggage and perhaps a second comfy chair. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay!

16th October 2023:
A pearl as a location! Mandy and Colin are wonderful hosts and take great care of their guests' needs. Communications were proactive and helpful - one example: the fireplace was already on when we arrived (already a bit colder in October). My daughter and I were here in "little" Boothy certainly one of the nicest accommodations of our Scotland trip. Fresh flowers were on the table - the garden is sustainably managed ecologically. The small house has its distinctive charm and a very good location for ventures. Dear Mandy, dear Colin: Keep up the good work!!!
Tips:I recommend: Puck's Glen - a picturesque dream glen for light hiking, only 30 minutes away by car.

Lovely place and kind, helpful hostess. The bothy is very nice and the interior carefully selected. The ONLY thing that should be improved are the towels. After use, when they are still wet, they give an unpleasent odour. Must be something with the wash, type of detergent, or something else.

Was an absolute delight to stay at the Bothy. Amazing how quiet it was and so relaxing at night sitting with the wood burner on.
Tips:The Bute ferry is very close and also not far to the tarbet ferry. If you have time would definitely recommend breaking your trip up with a stay here.

13th April 2023:
Couldn't recommend staying at the Bothy more highly. Such a tranquil spot; modern, cosy and luxurious - it has everything you need for a short stay. We cooked 2 nights out of 4 and wanted for nothing. Mandy was at hand to answer any questions and provide local tips, whilst still respecting our privacy. The scenery of Argyll and Bute is jaw dropping and we didn't feel the need to venture far for walks and meals etc. A really special place we hope to return to soon.
Tips:Dinner at The Colintraive Hotel (5 min drive) was a highlight. We also had a wonderful day taking the ferry across to Bute and walking the southern end along the West Island Way, such an easy journey from the Bothy and incredible views along the way. For something shorter, would really recommend the waterfalls at Pucks Glen.

4th March 2023:
Thank you for a lovely stay! Welcoming host in lovely surroundings. We loved watching the wildlife in the garden, particularly seeing the woodpecker at the feeder a few times! Managed to get some nice wildlife photos around the accommodation too. The bothy itself is a lovely space & the view is really quite serene. We felt relaxed the moment we looked out of the windows & we enjoyed morning tea on the deck (even in the cold!) Well equipped for short stays and tastefully decorated. Fresh flowers were a lovely touch. The only constructive feedback we can think of would be to provide some more information on walks etc nearby, we ended up looking online for these but sometimes it's nice to unplug and not rely on phones. Perhaps a drying rack for dishes or a spare tea towel would also be useful? Everything else really was great.
Tips:We really enjoyed how handy the bothy is to get the ferry over to Bute - the extremely short crossing is really inexpensive and crosses frequently. We left our car on the mainland and explored the North of the island by foot which was great - especially if you enjoy watching or photographing wildlife.
